As one of the most popular tourist activities in the destination of Puerto Vallarta, the Botanical Garden welcomes tens of thousands of guests every year.
Our living plant collections spotlight both endemic and exotic plants, as well as birds and pollenating insects. Guided tours and signage enhance the visitor experience, and we collaborate with various citizen science platforms for further engagement.
Throughout the year we offer special events such as the Chocolate, Coffee & Vanilla Festival, Hummingbird Week, Birds & Nature Festival, and more with free activities and partnerships with other environmental organizations from the Bay of Banderas.
We hope the beauty of the Garden inspires a renewed appreciation for the wonder of nature and value of biodiversity in our visitors.
Vibrant and resilient natural ecosystems depend on the stewardship of their local communities, and today’s children are tomorrow’s conservation leaders.
The Vallarta Botanical Garden believes the local children of Cabo Corrientes should be passionate and knowledgeable about their spectacular natural heritage.
Through our Young Naturalists program we run environmental education workshops in local schools and receive thousands of local students annually on field trips for free guided tours, bird watching, and interaction with the botanists, gardeners, and biologists on staff.
In the last year alone, more than 1,400 students were engaged with botanical programing. We hope to seed a love of nature in the next generation that will flourish just like our flowers.
The Vallarta Botanical Garden is committed to driving sustainable economic development across the rural communities of Cabo Corrientes. The local public schools languish without outside funding, as they receive almost no government assistance or resources for even basic needs.
VBG’s Bondad (Kindness) program provides critical funding for local public schools.
Since 2022 Bondad has built a new school cafeteria serving 300 students daily in El Tuito, constructed indoor bathrooms for the remote school house in Corrales, created scholarships (Becas) for local kids to pay school fees, purchased back-to-school supplies and laptops for teachers, and replaced school roofs destroyed by last year’s hurricane.
Launched with a special donation from Mr. David McCann of Vancouver, Canada, Bondad’s impact is thanks to your donations.
Every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. (Suspended until April 2025)

If you are interested in volunteering at the Vallarta Botanical Garden, please send an email to botanica@vbgardens.org indicating your availability for an online meeting. We have several options from customer service and educational activities to support in growing plants in the greenhouse and laboratory. We need to know about your experience and language skills, but most of all your commitment and availability of time. It will be a pleasure to have your help in our Garden.
